Stage 1: software for a standard vehicle
A Stage 1 request normally assumes factory engine hardware in healthy condition. The calibrator works with torque requests, load targets, boost control, ignition or injection strategy and protection systems while respecting known component limits.
The objective is repeatable drivability. A large peak number is less valuable than stable torque delivery, sensible temperature and consistent behaviour across fuel and weather conditions.
Stage 2: hardware and calibration become one system
Stage 2 requires a declared hardware configuration. Intake, intercooler, turbocharger, exhaust, catalyst, injectors, fuel system and transmission can all change the safe operating envelope.
Because vehicle configurations differ, a file labelled Stage 2 cannot safely be treated as a generic stronger file. The exact supporting parts and ECU software must be reviewed together.
How to choose
Choose the lowest calibration level that satisfies the real technical goal. Supply the original read, hardware list, fuel grade and diagnostic status. If the vehicle has unresolved faults, repair and validate it before requesting more load.
