Engine and transmission must agree

The TCU uses engine torque information to coordinate clutch and shift control. If an ECU file reports torque inconsistently, raising transmission limiters alone does not create a coherent system.

Record ECU and TCU software identities, mechanical condition, clutch adaptation state and the intended engine torque before calibration.

More than a torque limiter

Shift schedules, clutch pressure targets, launch behavior, kickdown logic, thermal protection and intervention requests can interact. Changes must respect hardware capacity and the intended road behavior.

Aggressive low-speed clutch behavior may feel fast in one demonstration but create poor drivability or accelerated wear in normal use.

Validation

Validate engagements, creep, part-load shifts, downshifts, full-load shifts and temperature behavior after the required adaptation procedure. Review faults and measured slip where the controller exposes suitable data.

Document the TCU revision together with its paired ECU file so later updates or recovery work do not mix incompatible torque strategies.
