How load and combustion are controlled

A diesel commonly controls load through injected fuel and air management without a conventional throttled mixture strategy. Smoke, cylinder pressure, exhaust temperature and turbocharger operation shape the usable target.

A petrol engine coordinates air charge, lambda, ignition timing, knock control and fuel pressure. Octane quality and charge temperature strongly influence repeatable output.

Torque delivery and drivetrain load

Turbo-diesel gains often emphasize mid-range torque, which can expose clutch, dual-mass flywheel and gearbox limitations even when peak power appears moderate.

Petrol applications may carry power across a wider engine-speed range, changing thermal load and turbocharger speed. In both cases, reported torque must remain coherent with transmission control.

Fuel and temperature evidence

Declare the actual fuel available to the vehicle. A calibration designed around one octane, ethanol content or diesel quality should not be assumed safe on another.

Review intake, coolant, oil and exhaust-temperature behaviour where data is available. Protection systems should remain functional and believable, not treated as obstacles to a headline value.

Choose a vehicle-specific target
