OBD, bench and boot describe access methods, not calibration grades. Availability and file content depend on the exact control unit, tool protocol, software and whether the read is virtual, partial or full.

OBD
OBD uses the vehicle diagnostic connection and is normally the least invasive. It can still require platform-specific preparation, stable power and an official tool protocol.
Bench
On supported units, bench access connects directly to the control-unit connector without opening the case. It can provide access unavailable through the vehicle network and may support full read, write or cloning depending on protocol.
Boot
Boot access generally opens the unit and connects to board-level points or processor modes. It demands correct pinout, ESD awareness, sealing practice and manual skill. Always follow the current official tool help rather than a generic diagram.

Is boot mode always safer than OBD?+
No. It offers deeper access on supported units but requires opening and board-level work. The safest method is the officially supported method appropriate to the unit and task.
