Launch control calibration

Launch control may coordinate engine speed, torque, boost, clutch, wheel-slip and transmission states. The available strategy depends on ECU, TCU, drivetrain, sensors and OEM logic; it is not a universal switch.

ECU and TCU must agree

On automatic and dual-clutch transmissions, the gearbox may request torque reduction or enforce clutch protection. Raising an engine limiter without understanding those states can create harsh engagement or protection intervention.

Mechanical and thermal load

Standing launches increase stress on clutches, shafts, tyres, mounts and thermal systems. Repeated use can reduce component life even when the control strategy operates as intended.

Required context

Provide ECU and TCU files, drivetrain layout, tyre configuration, installed hardware and intended closed-course use. Activation conditions and driver instructions should be explicit.

Is 2-step identical to launch control?+

Not always. Two-step often describes an alternate engine-speed limiter; complete launch control can also coordinate torque, clutch and traction states.
