ECU checksum verification
A checksum is an integrity mechanism, not proof that a calibration is technically correct. The correct algorithm and covered regions depend on the control unit, software and tool workflow.

Integrity is not calibration quality
A file can pass a checksum and still contain an unsafe or incompatible calibration. Checksums only verify the data relationship expected by that software.
Tool and file scope matter
Some tools correct checksums during writing; others expect a corrected input file. Virtual, partial and full reads can cover different regions. Never apply an unrelated correction blindly.
Preserve recovery data
Keep the verified original, identification and complete recovery read where supported. A successful checksum message does not replace a recovery plan.

Does a correct checksum mean the tune is safe?+
No. It verifies data integrity for defined regions, not torque, fueling, ignition, emissions or mechanical suitability.
